Big News for B.Ed Aspirants: NCTE Allows Admissions in 4-Year Integrated B.Ed Courses for 2025-26

NCTE Approves 4-Year B.Ed Integrated Course for 2025-26: Key Updates

The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has made a crucial decision regarding the 4-year integrated B.Ed program (B.A. B.Ed / B.Sc. B.Ed). Students aiming to pursue teaching can still take admission in the 4-year B.Ed integrated course for the academic session 2025-26. However, this will be the last session before the program is discontinued from 2026-27.

Key Highlights of the NCTE’s Decision:

Admissions Open for 2025-26 – Students can still enroll in the 4-year B.Ed integrated course this year.
Course Discontinued from 2026 – No new admissions will be allowed after the 2025-26 session.
New ITEP Program from 2026 – NCTE will introduce a 4-year Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP) as a replacement.
Mandatory ITEP from 2030 – By 2030, only ITEP-qualified candidates will be eligible for teaching positions.

What is the 4-Year B.Ed Integrated Course?

  • This program allows students to complete graduation (B.A./B.Sc.) and B.Ed together in 4 years.
  • It is an ideal choice for Class 12 pass students who want to become teachers early.
  • Saves time and provides a dual degree (Graduation + B.Ed).

Why is NCTE Replacing the B.Ed Integrated Course with ITEP?

The 4-year ITEP is designed to enhance teacher training standards as per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. From 2026 onwards, the new ITEP will be the only pathway for aspiring teachers.

Important Dates to Remember:

📌 2025-26 – Last chance to join the 4-year B.Ed integrated course.
📌 2026-27 – ITEP replaces B.Ed integrated courses.
📌 2030 – ITEP becomes mandatory for teaching jobs.

What Should Aspiring Teachers Do Now?

  • If you want to enroll in the traditional B.Ed integrated course, apply for 2025-26 admissions.
  • From 2026, prepare for the new ITEP program for teacher training.
